Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to AAI undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.

  1. Initial check — the editorial office checks each submission for scope, formatting and originality. Manuscripts that do not follow the journal format may be declined at this stage.
  2. Reviewer assignment — suitable submissions are sent to independent expert reviewers.
  3. Review — reviewers assess originality, methodological rigour, significance and clarity, and recommend acceptance, revision or rejection.
  4. Decision — the editor makes the final decision based on the reviewers’ reports and communicates it to the corresponding author.
  5. Revision — authors of manuscripts requiring revision are asked to submit a revised version with a response to the reviewers.

Editor Submissions

When editors submit papers to AAI, they are fully recused from handling them. Such manuscripts are assigned to an independent Guest Editor who holds final authority over the decision.
